About Us

The Australian Technical College - Gladstone Region, is funded by the Australian Government as part of addressing skills needs now and in the future.

Opened in 2006 at 1/28 Beckinsale Street, Gladstone, the College is one of a network of Australian Technical Colleges, across the country, that have been established in regions identified as having significant shortages of skilled professionals.

Our mission is to provide an alternative pathway to a traditional trade career for senior secondary students by enabling them to work in paid, part-time employment in a trade area (Australian School-based Apprenticeship) while they continue their senior secondary school education; and to provide employers with a source of well-prepared, motivated young people who want to work in their industry.

We are significantly different from other organisations that work with apprentices because we are industry-led and governed. Our Board of Directors comprises a team of business and industry representatives who help shape the way we operate and the programs developed for our Australian School-based Apprentices. We value curriculum and training that reflect the needs of the region's employers.

The College trade areas offered are:

  • Electrotechnology
  • Building and Construction;
  • Engineering (Metal Trades);
  • Automotive;
  • Diesel Fitting.

If you think an Australian School-based Apprenticeship is for you or you want to help train our young people for a trade career, please contact us.
