Certificate II in Business

Students enrolled with the Australian Technical College - Gladstone Region undertake studies in a nationally recognised Certificate II in Business.

Students who live in or within close proximity to Gladstone attend tutorials weekly or via block release at a modern computer lab located at Central Queensland University's (CQU) Gladstone campus library on Bryan Jordan Drive, at the Gladstone Marina. Home study is also expected.

A program is also being developed for students living in the Moura and Biloela areas.

This Certificate II in Business course offered through the College is specifically designed to give students essential skills that will help them in business - as an owner, manager or employee.

Our flexible program is designed with the student in mind, enabling them to complete work at their own pace. We recognise that a flexible approach to learning ensures Australian School-based Apprentices can tailor their studies around their work and school commitments.

Study/Resources

Students bring their own writing equipment and a workbook provided by the College to tutorials. Texts that accompany the workbook can be borrowed from the College.

Assessment

Assessment is largely embedded in workbook tasks and activities but students also respond in writing on their own paper or via computer-based tasks. A practical component is included to ensure students' skills meet the expectations of industry in the region. A written assessment piece concludes some of the units.

Students who can demonstrate competence in certain areas may receive credit for those competencies, thus reducing the time they spend to complete the course.

Course Structure

There are five subject areas and a total of 12 units of competency to be completed. Local industry and business representatives have had input into the development of the College's Certificate II in Business to ensure students are prepared for their careers now and in the future.
