If so, an Australian School-based Apprenticeship is for you.
The Australian Technical College - Gladstone Region offers Year 11 and 12 students the chance to study their Year 12 certificate and start an apprenticeship whilst still at school (Australian School-based Apprenticeship. Read more info about Australian School-based Apprenticeships.
As a Year 11 or 12 student appointed through the College, you complete your accredited Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) or equivalent while working in part-time paid employment as an Australian School-based Apprentice.
In 2008, our Australian School-based Apprentices will:
- Complete 2 weeks on the job paid employment and training towards the Certificate III in the chosen trade each month
- Complete 2 weeks subject course work each month at the ATC-GR's learning centres to achieve the QCE. Mathematics and English are two mandatory subjects. Physics will be integrated where necessary.
- Complete Certificate II in Business
- Complete Certificate II in Information Technology
- Complete a personal development and work readiness program including topics such as: leadership, team work, goal setting, health and fitness, driver education, drug and alcohol education, workplace health and safety, hand tool skills development, power tools skills development.
The curriculum and trade training will be integrated wherever possible.
